regular unit meeting was combined with a one-day
impression improvement workshop, including a session on
period hairdressing led by Stacy Hampton and a session on
material culture/packaging led by Kathryn Coombs.

Bonnet Workshop for Highland County Historical
Society:
In March, 2003, AGSAS conducted a workshop on decorating
a straw bonnet to assist women in the local community who
"dress out" for the biennial McDowell event to have
authentic headgear. Here's the link to the

Sewing Day at Cleydael, February 2003
In February, 2003, we held a one-day event at historic
Cleydael in King George County, portraying the Civil War
era owners of Cleydael, their relations and neighbors
discussing whether to form a soldiers aid society. A

was developed in advance
to assist participants in developing their characters.
